A grim reflection of how Britain has been trapped by the 1980's It's wonderful time of year where Adam Curtis bestows on us his latest series designed to inform, educate and horrify. The subject this time is how the monitorism policies implemented by the Thatcher Government put Britain on the course to be trapped by Capitalist Realism. As ever it is enthralling, informative, executed with style and deftly weaves together many different narratives into a series of incisive comments about contemporary society. It is one of the bleakist entries into his catalogue however it's central arguements cannot be iterated enough. Curtis continues his departure from his traditional style opting for an approach similar to TraumaZone, where he abandons the voice of God the narration, and instead prefers to put captions on screen, allowing the audience to draw conclusions from the footage presented to them. This change in style I find to be more engrossing as it encourages the audience to engag
