It’s a decent two-part TV movie, it’s likely the most faithful adaptation we will ever get, and it’s free to watch on YouTube, which is how I discovered it. It’s much more coherent and accurate (= more ballsy and morally ambiguous) than Del Toro’s version. Here, the Creature is actually fleshed out (haha) and has the essence of the original character, unlike in its latest embodiment via lobotomised Jacob Elordi, although it does also become increasingly more fuckable as the plot progresses (imagine Victor Frankenstein fused the faces of Jennifer Connelly, with a bit of Joaquin Phoenix and Michael Jackson, just.. trust me okay? Check the photos.) Would I recommend it? I don’t know. Might as well spend 3 hours reading the book. But I watched it randomly with zero expectations, and was surprised to find it scratched a certain itch, must have something to do with the current trend of making cheesy fan fiction and calling it adaptations
