Po tamburi (2021) is a Croatian action-comedy written by Mario Marko Krce and directed by Stanislav Tomić, who also co-wrote the script. Set against the lively backdrop of a tambura festival, the film follows rival bands competing with Croatia’s traditional string instrument, until an unexpected incident sparks a chain of chaotic events. Packed with parody and playful exaggeration, the film pays clear homage to the cult classic The Warriors, blending its street-gang energy with a local Croatian flavor. The cast delivers, with a standout comedic performance by Branko Uvodić, a TV legend who proves he can laugh at himself just as easily as he does at others. I hadn’t even heard of the film until my friend Sanjin Sano recommended it, but we ended up watching it laughing the whole way through. 7.5/10
