Charles Dreyfus, who has finally cracked over inspector Clouseau's antics, escapes from a mental institution and launches an elaborate plan to get rid of Clouseau once and for all.
Perhaps a step too far in places There's a lot to like about The Pink Panther Strikes Again. Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom are in fine form, there's a lot of wonderful and iconic sequences and Henry Mancini offers a varied and interesting soundtrack. I do feel however that the plot goes a little too far into absurdity. To establish the premise of this film, I'm going to have to share a spoiler for the end of Return of the Pink Panther, so this is your warning to stop reading here if you're unaware of what happens. Inspector Clouseau has been promoted to Chief Inspector after the former Chief Inspector Dreyfus has been placed in an insane asslyum, having been driven mad by Clouseau's antics. Just as Dreyfus is about to have his final assessment ready for release, he meets Clouseau and regresses. Dreyfus escapes and wants revenge. As an initial premise, I am not against this.
