I have a great affinity with the Flint Street Nativity. While I would not consider my school days to be particularly pleasant or rewarding, one of my positive abiding memories was every Christmas from Year Eight to Year Eleven was watching this TV special with my form group. As such you would think nostalgia would cloud my judgement, and it may well do, but on a recent revisit, I'm happy to say The Flint Street Nativity holds up brilliantly. The special in essence is about the children of Flint Street performing a nativity, although the children are played by adults in giant sets with giant props. This is a joke that could be stretched too far quite easily and in clumsier hands could get tired quickly, but The Flint Street Nativity never once falls into that. It's a testament to both the writing and the performances that you are sucked into the world and your suspension of belief isn't dropped.
