Superbad is a 2007 American teen buddy comedy directed by Greg Mottola, written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and produced by Judd Apatow. It follows Seth and Evan, two high school seniors on the brink of graduation, determined to have one unforgettable night, ideally involving a party and losing their virginity. Naturally, nothing goes according to plan. The script is sharp, fast-paced, and surprisingly sincere beneath all the crude humor. The film flows effortlessly, balancing chaotic set pieces with character-driven moments. The cast is excellent across the board; Jonah Hill and Michael Cera have standout chemistry, while Seth Rogen, Emma Stone, and the supporting actors elevate every scene they’re in. The comedy hits more often than not, landing big laughs without feeling overly forced or repetitive. One of the last old-school comedies before the genre shifted direction in the following decades. 7.5/10
