A disappointing sequel that undoes the excellence of its predecessor. Please note, there will be spoilers for Wrath of Khan in this review. It's a fast paced film where there are deep themes at its core as well as injecting two ingredients that are absent from a large part of Star Trek, namely action and character driven conflict. The Search For Spock, while having plenty of character moments doesn't come close to such magnificence. Sure there's the odd moment of joy to proceedings. The heist sequence where the crew steals the Enterprise in particular is a highlight, while there are occasionally some other good character moments between Kirk and his son for example. However, the film is mostly a slog, of slow scenes meandering it's way to the conclusion. There isn't the constant heightening of tension that's present in Wrath of Khan or the deep conversations that exist in The Motion Picture. I suppose it's fair
