Scream 4 is a 2011 American slasher film directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson. Set fifteen years after the original Woodsboro murders from Scream, the story follows Sidney Prescott as she returns to Woodsboro after a decade away, only for Ghostface to begin targeting a new generation of Woodsboro High students. The film blends classic slasher horror with black comedy while also satirizing society’s growing obsession with internet fame and media attention. The returning cast, Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox, delivers solid performances and brings a sense of familiarity to the film. While the film has entertaining moments and improves on its predecessor in some areas, the script often feels predictable and too reliant on ideas already explored in earlier films. Despite its self-aware humor and modern themes, it never quite reaches the level of the first two films. 6.5/10
