Scream 2 is a 1997 American slasher film directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson. Serving as a sequel to Scream, it follows Sidney Prescott and the other survivors of the Woodsboro massacre as they begin a new chapter at Windsor College in Ohio, only to find themselves targeted by a copycat killer with the Ghostface mask. Like its predecessor, the film blends brutal slasher elements with sharp humor, satire, and a self-aware take on horror sequel clichés. As sequels go, Scream 2 does a solid job of building on the original’s formula while raising the stakes. It maintains a tense atmosphere and delivers plenty of memorable moments, even if it doesn’t quite capture the originality that made the first film stand out. The cast is strong across the board, and the opening sequence, featuring Jada Pinkett, remains one of the most iconic in the genre. A worthy follow-up and a classic 90's slasher in its own right. 7.5/10
