I'm roust-about done with watching Elvis Roustabout is an exercise in power and if there's any lesson to take away from this movie, it's that Colonel Tom Parker had Elvis Presley in the palm of this hand. As ever there isn't a lot to write home about. The basic premise is Elvis, at the spritely 29 years old, is a rebellious and directionless youth. He is a 'Roustabout', which the internet informs me is a 'casual labourer' and not those things cars navigate in Milton Keynes. He joins a carnival after his bike crash and works as a Carnival Barker, which is basically a carnival promoter. Please note I wrote Carnival Barker, if you were hoping Elvis was going to do some innuendo based songs with a man shorter than him, you're after Ronnie Barker. If you were hoping Elvis was going to get some elephants to cross the Alps, you want Hannibal Barker. At the Carnival, things become the sort of standard love triangle with Elvis punching people routine you'd expect from one of these box
