Is it good? No. Is it fun? Kind of, it does a John Wick-style world expansion which I love, and even continues exactly where the first one ended, which is a baller move. Unfortunately much of the writing is really quite bad, but I don't expect great writing from this kind of movie. It has fun fights, completely unrealistic everything and a goofy ending, but I'll take it
A very bland sequel to a pretty fun movie. The first one was a good balance of bloody action, comedic moments and a sprinkle of emotion. This one… If someone told me that not a single real human participated in the making of this movie, I would have believed them. Such a shame because the cast is fantastic but I think literally nothing could have saved it. It feels like it was made to be watched in the background, it’s a series of poor exposition and one liners, moments of suspense are ruined with “fuck yeah!!!”s and “fuck you!!!”s, fights with zero impact or consequences, the sister-sister relationship is so generic it’s beyond cliché, it’s a kind of generic I can’t imagine a human to even come up with, after every bloody scene comes a scene in which they look perfectly made up and clean, they did my girl Samara dirty with that horrendous Insta-baddie makeover, and Kathryn with such dumb lines… And so on… Side note, why is it always Satanic cults in these movies, what did Satan do? It’s always “Hail Satan”, never “How’s Satan… Besides, we have perfectly suitable real cults and elitist societies to get inspiration from, perhaps even do a little commentary? No? Okay, if those hit too close to home at least make one up or use one of the actual Biblical characters that sacrifice children at altars to please an invisible deity (spoiler: not Satan)
