The story of J. Robert Oppenheimer's role in the development of the atomic bomb during World War II.
Obviously the visuals are stunning and the theatre experience is totally worth it but... PROS Soundtrack, sound design, acting, cinematography CONS Frenetic pace (not suited for a 3-hour movie), too many characters that inevitably result underdeveloped, excessively dense dialogues
While this is a film people say they admired rather than they loved, I am in the loved camp. I've contemplated this film for some time. I saw it the same day I saw Barbie as part of the great Barbenheimer movement of 2023. Turns out if you give two accomplished visionary directors power and a budget people will go and see their movies, who knew? ... Well other than the studio executives who are already learning the wrong lessons by announcing a ludicrous number of toy films and cringe worthy counter programming attempts such as Saw Patrol, but I digress. Christopher Nolan as created what is in my eyes his most interesting film at least since Momento. I feel that Nolan has learnt some lessons from Tenet. Tenet was all gimmick no soul, while Oppenheimer is character driven without much in the way of gimmicks. It's tightly focused on probing the characters at the centre of the drama and raising deep questions about the intersection of science, politics and mortality. It's one for th
one of nolan’s weaker entries along with tenet ridiculous cast of course and interesting topic but that’s where my enjoyment ended 3 hours of incessant dialogue, where things just happen one after another with barely coherent plot narratives that don’t give you time to take anything in or have any emotional response before the one-liner quips by the worlds smartest people continue ruthlessly. forgettable everything and i’m not sure who i would even recommend this to not sure what category it even falls under i didn’t fall asleep because the film refused to let me with its constantness but kinda wish i did
Not great not terrible.
