Frustrated with babysitting on yet another weekend night, Sarah, a teenager with an active imagination, summons the Goblins to take her baby stepbrother away. who is the audience for this? very strange movie. Great practical effects and sets, completely ???? everything else
This must be a generational inside joke, or it must have been iconic in a specific part of the world? Because to me this seemed mostly like an excuse to release a very mid David Bowie soundtrack Who is even Jareth, the main villain played by David Bowie with a Karen hairstyle, why is he a creep and why on earth is he wearing those bulgy tights? Is there some folklore I’m missing? I adore coming-of-age fantasy, and here there were some fabulous puppets and practical effects which I very much appreciate. It felt like they improvised the entire plot which can be okay except none of it was engaging at all, like I’m pretty sure that an actual child would come up with more imaginative scenes, and not sure it needed a scene of David Bowie roofing a child and bringing her into an Eyes Wide Shut kind of party. I do wish I could ask goblins to kidnap some people on occasion, or permanently
