After a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren't enough. Karate Kid: Legends (2025) is a martial arts drama movie directed by Jonathan Entwistle and the sixth installment in The Karate Kid franchise. It serves as a follow-up to The Karate Kid (2010) and the television series Cobra Kai (2018–2025). The story follows Li (Ben Wang), a kung fu prodigy who relocates to New York and finds himself confronting a local karate champion. The narrative is undeniably cheesy, soft, and often unrealistic, but it leans into that in a feel-good way. Compared to Cobra Kai, however, the film feels a bit uneven in pacing and lacks the same sharp energy. The cast is strong, led by one of my personal favorites, the legendary Jackie Chan. There’s even a nice homage to him during one of the fight scenes, which was a cool moment. Overall, Karate Kid: Legends is a fun and relaxing watch, but nothing particularly special or memorable. 6.5/10
