Mike Edwards and Danny Burke fly a cropduster, but due to Danny's gambling debts, a local sheriff takes custody of it. Trying to earn money, they hitchhike to the World's Fair in Seattle and, while Danny tries to earn money playing poker, Mike cares for a small girl whose father has disappeared.
An architypal Elvis movie Not yet weary of the ECU (Elvis Cinematic Universe), my esteemed comrades and I marched on and watched this as our second Elvis movie. The consensus is that we enjoyed this more than Jailhouse Rock, but that's not exactly enthusiastic praise. It's not exactly an enthralling film. It's mostly Elvis being creepy towards a nurse. We also see the formula of a standard Elvis movie in practice. Elvis is a cheeky but loveable scamp with a hook of a specific job/being in unique location who sings songs and woos women. As the title might indicate the 'hook' to this movie is that he's at The World's Fair. Sure enough we have extended sequences that double up as a tourism commercial where "The King" wanders around the World's Fair. Although the far more interesting hook is his career as a drug smuggler. Of course this being pre-Hayes code and with Colonel Tom Parker not wanting to draw attention to himself, it's not actually drug smuggling but fur smuggling. One
