Longing for a brighter future, two Senegalese teenagers embark on a journey from West Africa to Italy. However, between their dreams and reality lies a labyrinth of checkpoints, the Sahara Desert, and the vast waters of the Mediterranean.
Has some extremely strong and uncompromising scenes but is all the more ruined by the *very* compromising end.
L’inizio è riuscitissimo, e il rapporto con la madre/patria è trattato in modo delicato e toccante. Le idee surrealiste sono coraggiose, ma non funzionano al 100%. In particolare, non sono abbastanza forti da giustificare un'estetica così pulita ed elegante, che cozza spesso con le tematiche del film. A volte la tragedia non è rappresentata a pieno, soprattutto durante l’attraversamento del Mediterraneo. Per di più, il finale abbassa il livello dell’intero film: troppo brusco e ingiustificato.
