so this is the first time I properly watch a monster movie. I think I watched distractedly one of the more-or-less recent king kongs, with the corner of my eye, can't remember how and when, whatever, there was that jack black of sort and giant ass centipedes that were actually very scary, but, whatever. I also started the tv show Monarch: Legacy of Monsters that I found incredibly well made, but I stopped after two episodes, don't know why. When I started Minus One here it instantly captivated me. Might be because I like the Japans, might be because to see the open sea it's something that perversely attracts and scares me deeply, or else, I don't know. After all it wasn't anything that I will remember perfectly in a few years, nor that I will rewatch soon, but it was a greatly entertaining experience. I also felt how this - without having else to compare with, though - wasn't all about action and monsters and big ass things, effects and muscles, I could perceive the post-war critique, the price paid and still paid nowadays by the japanese for the atomic disasters, the fear, uncertainties, social dilemmas and such. Everything was dealt with quite superficially and quick, I can see that, but I also understand that, maybe, their priority was to make a good monster movie especially dedicated to the actual monster, spend budget on it, make it good. So! now that I just landed on this monster rampage, which one should I watch next? I'll take also tv shows
I don't think I've ever watched a monster movie in my (conscious) life so I can't make comparisons or smart judgments but this was as entertaining as it was sad. I remember watching Oppenheimer when it came out and loving it and I remember people criticizing that in that movie we don't see the other part of the whole situation - the consequences of the bomb. This is that other part. It was still a bit too campy for me and I couldn't really take seriously the main actor but a nice watch indeed

For mig er et af de mest ikoniske stykker filmmusik Godzilla temaet komponeret af Akira Ifukube. Lige så snart jeg hører anslaget er jeg klar til at se Godzilla smadre Tokyo. Godzilla minus one, venter med først at bruge temaet til første gang Godzilla træder på land over halvvejs inde i filmen, og hold nu op det virker, når man ser Godzillas fod smadre vejen under vægten af hans fødder, og man kan genkende de første toner til temaet. Det var awesome. Godzilla minus one er noget så atypisk som et hardcore melodrama, næsten på kanten til at være en sæbeopera, med det vildeste Kaiju action siden Shin Godzilla (2016). Vi følger kamikazepiloten Koichi, der i de sidste dage af Anden Verdenskrig, ikke har modet og lysten til at flyve i døden. Han lander på den lille ø Odo, fordi der er en ”teknisk fejl” på hans fly. Imens han er der bliver øen angrebet af en fortidsøgle, som de lokale kalder Gojira. I stedet for at hjælpe stikker han af, og resten af øen bliver jævner med jorden af G
