Flaming Star? Flaming Nora! And so we've reached the end of the journey GroddTheGreat and CripOnATrip embarked on to watch every Elvis Presley movie, for some reason. 31 movies over the course of twelve months has led us to what I feel is probably Elvis' best stab at a serious movie. Best does not always mean good of course, for instance I'm sure Jo Swinson did her best when leading the Liberal Democrats, but she is best forgotten. Admittedly Flaming Star doesn't necessarily deserve to be consigned to the dustbin of history, there is a bit of substantive value when you consider the plot. Elvis plays the son of a white American father and a Kiowa mother, as conflict breaks out between the Kiowa and white Americans. Obviously we have the issue of Elvis again playing "red face", but at least it's a role played with more sensitivity compared to Stay Away Joe. Compared to many of Elvis' films too, there's at least a central theme and conflict. Identity is in focus in Flaming Star,
