A rowdy, unorthodox Santa Claus is fighting to save his declining business. Meanwhile, Billy, a neglected and precocious 12 year old, hires a hit man to kill Santa after receiving a lump of coal in his stocking.
More of a Conservative lecture than a movie. Fatman is a forgettable action-comedy that lacks sufficient action or comedy. It's mostly a series of scenes where Mel Gibson talks to someone about declining moral standards with more interesting details going on in the background. Yes yes I know it's hardly a shock that Mel Gibson is a right wing nutjob, so why did I watch it? Well from the description I saw, the film is about a disillusioned, gruff alcoholic Santa Claus, who is forced to team up with the military to fend off an assassin hired by a spoiled child who received coal for Christmas... C'mon it was worth a go surely? Turns out it wasn't. As I'm sure you've detected, Fatman's biggest problem is its failure to deliver on its premise. You settle in for some action where Santa is beating the shit out of assassin's using toys from his toy factory or fighting in a room lit entirely from Rudolph's nose, none of this happens of course because that film just isn't imaginative e
