Whoever thought casting Selena Gomez and have her speak Spanish was a good idea should be fired. Great choice for a movie night with friends though. Cringing & laughs guaranteed
😬 a velocidade desse filme é péssima; as músicas são ruins; os escritores não sabem pra onde a história deveria ir; a Selena Gomez não fez nem um duolingo; e o filme todo tem um filtro HORROROSO, e ainda assim, AINDA ASSIM, não é tão abismal e horrendo e risível quanto o Twitter fez parecer. (pode assistir sem medo de perder dois anos de vida, mas não espere algo bom)
The problem with these types of musicals is that the singing is supposed to imply depth and emotion where there isn't any. Not to say that a musical can't ever work in principle but here it appears that the director simply isn't capable and/or doesn't trust his writing or actors to facilitate whatever he hopes to achieve through singing. The theme of trans-identity is under-explored to an embarrassing degree. Basically just a high budget telenovela.
