6 - I finally let it simmer and I have come to my decision lol. My siblings and I finally had our movie night and I ||desperately|| suggested #[movie:1339713:Obsession (2026)] but it was met with a resounding no, so... we watched this. All of them had great reviews and I agreed on some parts because it is quite cinematic, the concept of having the zombies having a hive mind is unique, the zombie choreography is amazing, and no one can deny that Jun Ji-hyun (the actress who played Professor Se Jeong) is a goddess. Now to the parts I complained that none of them understood (cause I'm actually a snob), ||the characters themselves are so flat||. It's confusing that the same directors for Train to Busan who made us sob and foam at the mouth made ||characters who were as flat as cardboard. They solely exist to move the plot and the heroine has no emotion except for what is proactive because well, she's the heroine. Other characters could've been more interesting if they we're given better dialogue or better scenes like the two siblings or the bully and victim (which was super cliche by the way but I could ignore it if they were written well).|| When I shared this perspective, they just looked at me like I've grown a big head for being too judgemental. They commented that it was fine and they just focused on the story and action more. ||I said it's their job to make us care for the characters if they want us to empathize and hope they come out alive.|| Well anyway, everyone has their preferences and these are mine. Whether you agree with it or not, smart discussion about movies are always entertaining.
