Charro!

Dull. Everything about Charro is dull. I find it difficult to be entertained by westerns that the best of times. I suspect having seen The Dollars Trilogy as my first westerns, the experience has been ruined for me as nothing compares favorably to them. Upon attempting to watch a western I'll often be consumed with self-doubt wondering if I'm the problem and I just don't like the genre and all it's tropes. Maybe I'm just not giving the film a fair chance. However upon watching Charro it just becomes obvious a lot of Westerns are just bad. To be clear good westerns do exist, I just referenced three of the finest films in all time, The Dollar's Trilogy. Unforgiven is also a great film. The problem is westerns are so intrinsically tied to the history of Hollywood and have been riffed, adapted or developed on so many times it's hard to be fresh within the confines of that genre.
