In Haven Hospital, a certain men's ward is causing more havoc than the whole hospital altogether. The formidable Matron's debut gives everyone a chill every time she walks past, with only Reckitt standing up to her. There's a colonel who's a constant nuisance, a bumbling nurse, a romance between Ted York and Nurse Denton, and Bell wants his bunion removed straight away, so after a couple of pints, the men decide to remove the bunion themselves!
More laughing gas please Carry On Nurse is a bit of a dull affair following on from Carry On Sergeant and that's largely to do with the film lacking focus. Carry On Nurse feels like it's got a setting but is struggling for a plotline. For those unaware, Carry On Nurse is focused on an ensemble cast in a men's ward in a hospital. Each patient has their own quirk. Obviously with comedy you aren't looking for anything too intricate, but you want something to keep momentum up to the next set piece. Having a plot or character driven drama is even more important when you lack the ability to move to different locations for the different set pieces. Even with theack of a distinct plot however, there just aren't enough amusing set pieces. Having the film be set largely in one ward is rather restrictive. The film becomes reliant on dialogue for it's humour and the script just isn't sharp enough. In terms of physical or situational comedy, the most notable sequence is as a result of
