Local councillor Sidney Fiddler persuades the Mayor to help improve the image of their rundown seaside town by holding a beauty contest. But formidable Councillor Prodworthy, head of the local women's liberation movement, has other ideas. It's open warfare as the women's lib attempt to sabotage the contest.
If Father Jack Hackett pitched a movie Carry On Girls makes the interesting decision to forgo any sort of innuendo and instead unabashedly focuses on a lovely girls competition. I never thought I would point to Elvis movies as a positive comparison, but after at least they to bury the concept behind a plethora of shoddily assembled concepts. Carry On Girls is about as entertaining as an Elvis movie too. Once the plot is established, it all becomes pretty predictable. Sid James, a member of a seaside council, wants a lovely girls competition to help bring in more tourism. As you would expect, this gives ample opportunity for Sidney to drool over scantily clad women.
