Francis Bigger, a notorious charlatan who tours the country lecturing on the subject of mind over matter, slips off the platform in the middle of his performance and ends up in hospital under the care of Dr Tinkle. The hospital is about to enter a period of total chaos.
The improved second draft Carry on Doctor is a redraft of Carry On Nurse. I recognise that sounds like a condemnation, but it's not a bad thing at all. I wasn't a fan of Carry On Nurse, but I can recognise the potential in that set up. Carry On Doctor is an iteration that takes a step in the right direction. In terms of the plot, well there's a few really but they're appropriate for the setting and then converge. Each of the patients has a goal and Kenneth Williams interferes with them. Sid James wants to stay in the hospital, Charles Hawtrey is worried about his forthcoming baby, Bernard Breslaw wants to cop off with a woman in the ward nearby and Frankie Howerd wants to leave as soon as possible. There's even a fued between Williams' doctor and Jim Dale's. There's many avenues for comedy and enough plots to keep you engaged throughout, all with clear objectives. It's good to have a return to undermining institutions too rather than just parodying what's popular. There's an
