Sid and Bernie keep having their amorous intentions snubbed by their girlfriends Joan and Anthea, so when they decide to take them on a holiday to Paradise Camp, they think they're off to a nudist colony—but they couldn't be more wrong, and meet up with the weirdest bunch of campers you can imagine.
It's what I expected but in a good way Carry On Camping is one of the most enjoyable films of the series. It's got a consistent pace, it's got character arcs, everyone is vast appropriately and a variety of humour. It's not the most complex or sophisticated of comedies, but it does its job effectively. The premise is simple, the cast goes on a camping holiday. Instinctively I couldn't help but wonder how much material you could feasibly get from this premise. But, because this is an ensemble piece, you get different characters with different goals and personalities that you can build set pieces around. I won't pretend the character goals are terribly complex or varied. Most of the characters just want to pitch their tents and go deep into the woods, if you catch my drift. It's the 1960's afterall so one would expect half the characters to basically turn into Austin Powers.
