An engrossing 90 minute reminder of just how anxious an experience it is working at a restaurant. For the uninitiated, Boiling Point is filmed in a single shot and focuses on the many people across a restaurant as they go about their business during their shifts. You have waitresses taking orders, chefs cooking meals, the owner dealing with wages etc. Within these shifts you learn a bit more about the characters backstories and motivations as well as the various challenges they have to face in their jobs. On the face of it, this doesn't sound terribly interesting but trust me when I say it's a very tense and entertaining watch. We often think of films as having grand narratives and needing to be larger than life. Boiling Point proves there is as much drama in the smaller things. There's an infinite number of ways things can go wrong in a restaurant, to name three, overly aggressive customers, upsetting influencers and receiving bad publicity and failing health inspections.
