Less A Kind of Magic, more A Kind of Mess. Bohemian Rhapsody is a pretty awful film with uninspiring cinematography, nauseating editing, a mess of a script and jarring sound work. From a technical stand point this film is shocking. There is obviously the infamous scene with the manager with an extraordinary amount of cuts and reaction shots, and while other scenes aren't as 'frantic' as this, they do have that issue of just being a series of close up shot reverse shots with unnecessary reactions. There is little in the way of creativity in how scenes are conveyed, little thought going into how we can be shown scenes rather than told. The film is constructed in a pretty clumsy way with many scenes just shoehorned in for the sake of it. There are two scenes which stop the narrative and story just so songs can be placed in. Bohemian Rhapsody er nok den mest ironiske selvfede film jeg nogensinde har set. Med et glimt i øjet leverer den ene selvfede replik efter den anden, og et ganske kort øjeblik tænker man er det for meget? FUK nej. Det er fedt og vildt fantastisk. Det er en fed film der kender sin genre, og bliver aldrig helt følge de regler der er. Lidt ligsom Queen. Fra at den hele tiden små lokker at det skal handle om et band, der hele tiden er på grænsen til at gå i opløsning leger den med os og giver det modsat. En egentlig antagonist er svær, at finde med mindre man med det samme dømmer Paul karakteren, som den onde. Men han er ikke den onde. Konflikten ligger i Freddy Mercury, sublimt spillet af Rami Malek, der ikke helt ligner Freddy, men er en næsten tro kopi af ham, hvis du ser på hvordan han agerer fysisk helt ned til det lille hop han laver.
