Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.
Ye now I'm sure this movie talks equally to men as to women so fuck it we ball
My question is was Mattel the antagonists or just dumb business men??
Comedy bits are good, and the film builds up nicely in the first half. Unfortunately the last 40 minutes are just one big long monologue and I hate that from a narrative standpoint.
”She thinks i’m a fascist? I don’t even control the railways or the flow of commerce!”
pretty fun overall, kept me engaged and film was carried by ryan gosling a bit on the nose with its theme and mattel trying to absolve itself of crimes against humanity with satire, but better than i expected overall
A deeper and more thoughtful film about womanhood and women's relationship with Barbie than I anticipated Straight up, I should not be the target audience for this. I am an adult cis male heterosexual skin head football fan. The fact I had a good time watching Barbie should be enough of an endorsement to go and see it! It is clearly a well thought out vision by Greta Gerwig and co too that in some capacity it deserves attention, even if it is still essentially an advert for a plastic product. Every review I have read so far gives a lot of praise to Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling and rightly so! They are superb! There's a lot of balance required to play these characters because you need to be plastic and lacking in dimension enough to depict a plastic toy but also real and complex enough to buy into their motivations. They are the two stand out performances and light up the screen whenever they are on. Beyond the two lead performances though there's clearly a lot of talent beh
Not enough pink
