A funny film that plays to its strengths. Bad Trip is yet another prank comedy film that follows a loose plot structure of a road trip movie. Such a plot structure is understandable of course, it allows your characters to take detours into various interesting locations, allows a wider variety of people to react to your pranks and gives your characters an objective or goal. Sometimes it works brilliantly, like in Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and sometimes it's terrible like in Impractical Jokers: The Movie. Bad Trip is pretty good, does bring some new elements to the genre but largely unremarkable. What this film manages to do that other such prank road trip movies fail to do is that it manages to weave it's plot into prank sequences. It works rather brilliantly as the authentic reactions from the public serve as a great juxtaposition to the heightened reality they see in front of them and it is an effective jab at the absurdi
