More of a travel guide than a thriller. There's some nice world building but it's a step back towards the Casino Royale style of writing where it's more exposition than story and character building. There isn't much of a mystery going on and most of the action is put towards the end of the book.<br><br>Bond also moves away from being his own character to being an avatar to express Ian Flemming's opinions from critising the welfare state to admiring the actor David Niven. I found myself failing to register what I was reading by the end.
