I really didn’t want to do this. I don’t have time for this. But the Nolan film seems tailor made to spite me, in particular, and so here I am, roaming Belgrade, trying to find an Emily Wilson translation in English. God help me.
Reading with the katalog book club started by @flossisboss it took me a while to decide which translation to go for, ultimate settled on Odyssey: A New Translation by Peter Green because when I compared versions, this seems to be scholarly, respect the prose, and still be fun to read. Some other versions I checked out only ever checked 2 of those 3. Crazy what a difference a translation can make. Curious to see other reader impressions as we work our way through. Reading with some urgency before Nolan’s vision captures the zeitgeist ahahah
